White Macbook crack issue addressed

What's crazy is that I didn't realize I had any cracks until I saw the article. Sure enough, I have vent cracks 🙁

Ask for a unibody upgrade 😀

Hmmm, should I stop by the Boca store when I'm nearby tomorrow, or just call and save myself the 30 minute drive...

hate to bring up an old topic, but does anyone know if this applies to only 2006 macbooks? I bought my sister one for school in Fall 08. Since she's home for break, I noticed hairline cracking (almost "shattering" looking). along the front "latch" area.. all along the edge. Also, around the rear venting.

I have apple care if it matters, but the store flat said they were not fixing that. Haven't had a chance to try calling up apple support, but wondering if they indeed limited to the 06 built ones.

huh... if they did, i have not see any news of it yet.. unless the put it out the the apple stores first vs apple authorized service centers

I took in my '06 MacBook to the Apple store and they replaced the top case and screen bezel for free even though it was most definitely out of warranty. They would have replaced the entire casing but they felt that there was evidence of damage so did not replace that.

My mother's '07 BlackBook got the same free treatment.

I got mine fixed last fall if I recall correctly. It is hit or miss, and to the best of my knowledge it is not a publicly acknowledged thing so your best bet is to take it in in person.
