My hair was down to my ass in the 80's.

rofl!
My hair was too.

Hair like that is a pain to manage.

That is so true! Tangles were one thing that pissed me off! :|
That and the weight. It was also hot in the summer and it took forever to dry it.

Did you feel bald when you cut your hair shorter? I could have sworn I was bald. :p

Yes I did. For a long time I tried to toss my hair but I didn't have any. Just so used to it being in the way. LOL.

I apologize for hijacking this thread.

On topic: Those solos are very good. But of course, I have heard better. If you want to hear some good guitaring, listen to Styx, Queensryche, Alice Cooper, Boston.

If you dont mind listening to some 70's and 80's Metal, listen to Anthrax, Accept, Saxon, Riot, Iron Maiden.

In Ozzy's first two albums, Rhandy Rhodes was awesome. He was the guitar player for Ozzy's first two solo albums before he passed away. Listen to Ozzy's first album in 1980. Awesome album, especially Crazy Train's solo.

If you dont mind listening to some 80's Black Metal, you have to listen to Mercyful Fate. Awesome band. The song I recommend you listen to from them is The Oath. Awesome solo's. I really think you should listen to these guys.

Now, the solo that rules all is by Starz. The song is called "Its a Riot." This song was released in 1978. IMO, this song has one of the greatest solo's I have ever heard. Almost the whole song is solo. I recommend this song if you want to hear some good guitaring.

Its sad White Lion didnt even last 10 years, but I am suprised some people still remember them. I still listen to them once in a while. My favorite song from them was "Lady of the Valley." That song was their best IMO. Its good some people havent forgotten them.

I wouldnt say Styx is better than White Lion as far as solos go, Queensryche has some serious guitar work, especially on the OPeration Mindcrime album..that one rocked! Chris Degarmo is pretty decent.
Reb Beach from Winger was pretty good, so is George Lynch from Dokken.

Anthrax...the guitar work isnt anything out fo the norm, same with Riot and Saxon. I like Accept, Metal Heart was a great cd, now Iron Maidne..there is some serious harmonies and guitar work..

Of course guys lile Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert and Joe Satriani rock!

Its good to know someone has heard of Riot! Anyways, you need to hear Its a Riot by Starz. Starz is not really known, but they are a great 70's Classic Rock band. It would be tough to find that song. iTunes did have Starz songs a while back, but not many. Thats how I managed to get a hold of them. But for some reason, they dont have them anymore, not even music by Zebra! And Zebra rules!

Gilbert is all shred and no feel. I use to give lessons to Lynch when I lived in Phoenix in the late 80's That guy has no shame and would snatch others gear when your not looking and bring it back when he was done with it.

Gilbert finally dumped the Black and Decker and started applying the lessons Joe Pass gave him at GIT. It's about time.

Are you the guy that taught him how to look like he was climbing a tree when he played his solo's? :D

Speaking of guitarist's from the 80's, check out this Hear 'N Aid video from that time frame.

i think the fade out guitar solo at the end of "Headed For A Heartbreak" is one of the greatest guitar solos of all time. the whole feel, haunting and enchanting...

Screw Quicktime. It's an .avi, play it in WMP.....it plays fine.

It's worth your time if you want to see Vivian Campbell, George Lynch, Brad 'The Human Puffer-Fish' Gillis, Yngwie, Buck Dharma, Carlos Cavazo, Craig Goldy, Eddir Ojeda, Adrian and Dave from Maiden and probably my favorite guitar player, Neal Schon.....lay it down.

Seriously, any self respecting metalhead from the early 80's will like that video.
