He should have drawn it out longer, if he had waited another year all of the GOP hopefulls would have jumped on the birther band wagon.

Yea I was thinking that as well but a coupel have already came put and said it was BS. So I guess now is better since World Nut Daily, trump, and some others have kept it up recently.

Has there ever been a more drawn out rope-a-dope?

I can't think of one, but at the rate the crazies are going its sure to set new records.

Now it's time for the rants to start on President Obama's abuse of executive powers in forcing Hawaii to violate its policy about releasing original birth documents...

From the looks it's not forcing, but a request. And the state was happy to do it because the requests from birther nitwits were a waste of time and money for them to deal with.

This was labled a distraction that took away from the important business of running the country.

The president's personal counsel, Judith Corley, traveled to Hawaii to pick up the documents and carried them back to Washington on a plane.

Really, how big of a distraction was that?

O: "Hey Judith, want a mini-vacation to Hawaii paid for by the tax payers?"
J: "Hell yea!"

J: Fly Fly Fly, Nice Motel, Drinks, Sleep, Spend 1 hour Getting Document, Nice Motel, Pool, More Drinks, Fly Fly Fly.

J: "Here you go."
O: "Nice tan! Thanks."

O: In your face stupid birthers (Checks Polls).

Me thinks President Obama was waiting for maximum hype on the issue before he did the In your Face bit (Thanks to the Donald, it peaked).

I haven't followed most of the issue. I thought we had the birth certificate years ago. What's new about the document released today?

Not going to bother with the rest of the issues with this like what it says about so many millions of Americans' idiocy who thought he's not a citizen.

We did, but that wasn't good enough for some of the heavy duty retards. Also, Hawaii state law prohibited the release of the documents, but it was verified by 3 people in hawaii.

Eh. Birthers will still question the veracity of this document, those who saw it as a non-issue will continue to do so, and those who thought it ridiculous will continue to do so.

My personal feeling is that the birther issue was giving Trump too large a platform to bitch forth from and Obama (or his people) decided it was time to shut him down.

Nah, now they can all claim Hawaii was never really a state.

Or like stated in the World Nut Daily article, they can proclaim that since his father was born in Kenya, Obama has access to dual citizenship and is therefore ineligible.

(Never mind that seven other presidents had foreign born parents.)

Thought this should have its own thread since it is a major story.

Wonder why it took so long.

Perhaps the White House thought that the birther story made Republicans looks like fools and enjoyed that aspect of the story. But once the polls started to show that many Americans were starting to feel the same way the White House realized that they had put it out there before it starts to hurt Obama's 2012 chances.

Thoughts on why they held it back so long?

convincing forgeries are hard to make

Actually, yes, it was.

It was started by a fringe group that supported Hillary, it did not start from within her campaign.

So actually, no, it wasn't.

*edit* Just to clarify for those with diminished capabilities, there is a big difference between fringe groups starting/supporting idiotic movements, and actual politicians like Trump and various tea party candidates supporting it.

During the Democratic Party's 2008 presidential primaries, anonymous e-mails from supporters of Hillary Clinton surfaced that questioned Obama's citizenship in an attempt to revive Clinton's faltering primary campaign. These and numerous other chain e-mails during the subsequent presidential election circulated false rumors about Obama's origin, religion and birth certificate.

Maybe not Clinton directly, but Wikipedia states it started with supporters of Hillary Clinton.
