Well, maybe its because they're rolling while driving? If you can't talk on the cell phone without greatly increasing the risk of an accident, I don't see how rolling while driving could be any safer. :p

The DEA is like any other large government bureaucracy in that once formed it vigorously looks to make sure it is never killed. There are 2 12 story buildings full of people on Army-Navy Drive in Arlington, Va along with a ton of field offices that all have a vested interest in keeping the "war against drugs" going no matter whether they can demonstrate any progress in the war since the DEA was formed in 1973. Why would you be surprised that they would oppose any type of sanity by the states when it comes to drug issues?

Actually I think they share those offices with US Marshals, as the other 2 buildings in the complex are(were) used by WorldCom. ;)

But yes, I agree. Them and the CIA are two of the most politicized agencies in your government.

Yes, as much as you can, as fast as you can. If everyone does this, the politicians will get a contact high and will legalize it.

At least as of yesterday the 2 back buildings are still used by MCI/Worldcom ;) but they are physically separate from the 2 buildings that contain DEA. US Marshalls do have some offices in the complex as well but it is mainly DEA controlled and run. I really don't see them as any more politicized than other agencies like EPA or SSA that deal with hot button issues that people generally take hard line positions on either one side or another. I think any government agency once formed is extremely difficult to dismantle even when the purpose they were originally formed for no longer exists. That is why I oppose the Homeland Security Agency. We have had a department in government responsible for homeland security as dictated in the Constitution since the US was formed. The were known more honestly as the War Department until the late 1940's when for some reason the name was changed to Department of Defense.

I live in AZ, and hope this doesn't get passed.

The anti-Campaign for this is quite simple "Free Pot - Bad Idea".
Yeah they have enough to worry about with whackos like you running around.
