Seems like the white house gets the questions ahead of time.

But our resident wing nuts will continue on saying that the press isn't in the can for the left.

Where were you when Regan had reporters removed for asking questions not on the approved list?

This kind of stuff has been going on for a long time.

When every news channel ran the prepackaged news stories sent out by the Bush administration was the press in the can for the right? The only difference is that the current president happens to be a democrat.

The MSM is all corporate owned, and corporations own the government. It really isn't hard to undersand why so much of the MSM is pro-establishment. It has nothing to do with left or right.

Back in the 1990s there was some show like 48 hours or 60 minutes who did an episode about Regan screening his questions.

During a program there was footage of the secret service removing a reporter for asking a question that was not on the list. the guy asked a question, the SS walked over, grabbed him by his shoulders and dragged him out of the press conference.

Various reporters were interviewed who said straight up, if you ever want to be allowed in a white house press conference, you will only ask questions that have been approved.

Keep in mind this was back in the 1990s when this show aired.

They blamed it on Regans failing mind. But if he could not remember stuff, he had no business serving as president.

Outrage not found. I guess it depends on how you view a press conference.

1.) I'm sure for some issues the reporters are actually interested in the Administration's deliberated Response on a question and not simply what Carney thinks, or some gotcha moment of Carney not knowing the answer to something. So, I assume they ask Carney ahead of time and he goes and finds out. Like, "What is the state departments response to X or Y". Then, they get to ask better follow up questions.

2.) And for some issues the reporters are looking for a gotcha moment. See many of Fox's correspondents questions.

Lastly, if ALL questions had to be pre-submitted I'm sure we would have heard it a while ago from Fox or are you saying FOX correspondents are complicit in this as well?

LMAO @ the self ownage!!!!!

I can't remember a White House press staff that didn't screen questions or dictate approved criteria of what could be asked.

I don't think any White house can approve what questions are asked. They may have topics for certain briefings, but I highly doubt screened questions.

First off, I thought it was common knowledge that all questions were screened and pre-approved prior to them being asked.

Second, why is it so strange to stand up when addressing someone? When I talk to someone, or even shake someones hand, I stand up and take off my hat. Its all about respect, granted I have absolutely zero respect for our president, but I would still address him as Mr. President, stand and take off my hat for him.

If you notice all those who are allowed to ask questions are either selected by the President or Press Secretary.

Yes, he calls them. And that part of the process may reward or punish people for the type of questions they ask. But, the press pretty much sticks together as part of the pool and as a pool they don't like when the admin. tries to freeze out certain orgs.

Here is good example of what I am talking about. He says they have 4 minutes to talk about a topic or a couple of topics but doesn't preselect what type of questions they can ask on that topic. If he did, we would have heard about it on FOx and Drudge before today.

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/pol...screened-white-house-carney-article-1.1728066

FollowUp: It's an access game. Not many people get to interview the president. And if you embarrass him, you get frozen out. Few people have the clout to attempt to embarrass him like (O'reilley) and Fox reporters who have a permanent seat in the pool room anyhow.
