The White House sharply criticized Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson on Friday for suggesting that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's stroke was divine punishment for "dividing God's land."

Isn't this going a little too far?

I mean.............. What the hell ... Why would congress care about what Pat Robertson is saying? He is not a political figure.. I could care less about that WHACKNUT job pat..

I don't want my tax dollars going to the white house so they can tell me he is an idiot. I think I can WE can figure that out on our own. I just think this country is too far on religious BS. We voted a religious nut job bush in... We really need to get our priorities straight.

The damage is already done. We voted these retards in? I just hope in the next 2 years this trend won?t continue. It has already gone so far back since bush took office that were gonna need two good presidents to get it back on track again?

Well, the whitehouse has been aligning themselves with the radical Christian right over the last 5 years. About time they started backing off. Ideally our government should remain neutral when it comes to any peaceful religion.

"Those comments are wholly inappropriate and offensive and really don't have a place in this or any other debate," presidential spokesman Trent Duffy said as Bush traveled to Chicago for a speech.
sounds like a minor staffer did all the work.

Bush can't run again so it's time he turns his back on the Fundies and starts dealing with us Norms!

We need to go beyond that and ensure the separation of religion and state is enforced for politicians as well. Politicians should be disqualified if they take any kind of stance or pander to any religious sentiment.

Religion is personal and private issue, not something to be worn on a sleeve or displayed in public.

Wow, that is one of the most radical points of view i've heard on these boards.

Any religous point of view leaves one disqualified public office, or government job. Communists would be proud.
