I'm trying to think of some creative ideas that will get the guys n gals rolling.

So far, i'm thinking of taking a head shot, autographing it, and framing it.

What are ya'lls favorite white elephant ideas?

If you can find any Henry Kissinger schwag, that usually works pretty well too.

One year we found a hideously ugly lamp at the local flea market. It was made from macaroni glued to a base with a plastic statue of an Indian sitting on a horse. It was a total eyesore.

Some people don't understand the meaning of a White Elephant gift. We took this to a party where names were exchanged. The guy that got the lamp was actually pissed - for the whole night. Several people tried to explain but he was having none of that.

We do a White Elephant with my wife's family for Christmas. Everyone picks a number and the selection begins in numerical order. Each participant has a choice of a new gift or they can take a gift someone else has already picked. It turns out to be pretty fun, with gifts being taken, etc. There's been some decent stuff and some real eyesores. Some of the eyesores have made appearances for a number of years now.

We do one with our boating group but it's a little more serious and called "Pirate Gift Exchange". I got a bottle of Chivas Regal this year.

Googling "white elephant gift exchange"....
Sounds something like what my family would play at reunions - "dirty bingo," though it had nothing to do with bingo.
The gifts weren't opened until all the swiping/stealing was done.

Some notable items that were circulated:
- 3lbs of genuine horse manure
- one of my great aunt's bras

Yeah, it's an interesting bunch.

We had one once at a party. Usual crappy stuff, I ended up with a qt of oil.

The funnest part though, someone brought a stuffed parrot toy that talked, anyway everyone wanted it so bad and fought to get it.

Take something cool that everyone will want.
