White creamy stuff on my processor

My IBM A30 was not powered up suddenly, so I took it about, abd I found that there is some odorless, white creamy stuff, like tooth paste or something on top of the processor, anything experience something like this and know what had happened?

Thank you very much. So it won't power up, what would be the common problem? I died on me suddenly.

hmm I recall my old roomate's "oncall" laptop from work that had the same problem. It was an older modle IBM.
I think what I did was; took out the battery, plugged in external power, then it turned on. Take out the battery and use your external cord to power up. If that works, put the battery back in.
Try that.

Tried that, didn't work, it doesn't have the battery light on either when I plug in the external adapter

just a crazy thought, I don't want to think about the worse situation, is it possible if the keyborad went malfunctioning? because the key board shows the battery light and control on/off

hmm, could be the powersource or the RAM. that is just my guess.
When it worked, how much juice was left in the battery?
I say take the ram out and try to turn it on.
is there a light that shows it pluged into external power when the laptop is off?

The keypad should not have anything to do with the power when it is off.

If it is the desktop, it can be the powersupply or the power cable.
Yes, I have ran into bad power cord before.

it is a laptop, no it is no light that shows it plugged into the external power when it is off.

was there any sort of fan or heatsink on the cpu? if you can see the thermal paste and nothing else on top of it, you may have found your problem.

yes, the fan is on top of the processor.

A laptop that will not POST or light up either is getting no power - or . . . the CPU has become loose and needs to be reseated.
