Is there any scientific evidence of atavism happening in regards to skin color and other racial traits? I can only find things like vestigial tails and such. There doesn't seem to be any real evidence Laing was a product of atavism other than her mother claiming to have never been unfaithful.

Idk, All i know is that there have been cases of faithful white parents who gave birth to solid black children.

Example in Dundalk, MD (I used to live in Baltimore county). The same thing happened 3 years ago...

In that example, and all the "faithful" parents, is the DNA proof both parents are biological? While I don't think it is impossible, it just seems extremely unlikely and proof of it should be extremely easy to obtain in today's world.

Suing is a public record that you cannot hide. How will they look in their child's eyes after she grows up and finds out that her parents sued the sperm bank just because she is black? :\

I'm still trying to understand the part about "has to travel to get her hair done".

Typically white beauticians don't do a good job with black hair, same as black beauticians don't do a great job with Caucasian hair. I've gotten my hair cut in a bunch of black barber shops. When I go in a new one the 1st question I always ask is do they have a barber who cuts white hair. More than a couple shops have said no and sent me on my way. My guess is she said that because her town doesn't have a black hair salon, so she'll have to travel.

There have been cases of black parents who gave birth to "lily white" children who are not albino.

Yes, DNA test were done much later to prove Abraham (white) was the real father to Sandra Lang.

Anyway, back to the point at hand, the lady does have a case on the merits that the facility screwed up and sent the wrong donor. She has no merits otherwise. This is a frivolous lawsuit - she just wants a payday.
The case has merits due to negligence, but because it has no other merits it's frivolous?

lolwut.

It either has merit, or it doesn't. If you find it has merits, it can't be frivolous. Those two words are basically antonyms.

Whatever the case is, it tells use how we value people in society. My feeling is people should be happy to have a child. But we have our children like we order our pizza.....

This is a lesbian couple that is being discriminating??????? They should be the last people to behave like that....

If the child has a white Mom then he's white.

End of story.

Case closed.

Racism not found.

Willing to bet a dollar on it?

And how do you expect to prove that the predisposition to get into Princeton or Dartmouth is generic more so than having a upper class family?

I am fairly certain applying with the note "My sperm donor father, whom I've never met, was an alum." isn't going to give them legacy admission status.

Well, it seems you totally took that ordering a pizza line out of context. It's referring to the fact the sperm bank took the "order" on pen and paper, like a pizza chain. The error was a mistake of a 3 and 8, because it was written on paper.

Their claim is the discrimination against their child is causing issues

Did you even read the article?

Science has shown that much behavior and personality is attributed to nature v.s. nurture. I don't believe genes guarantee a Harvard acceptance. But I would say ON AVERAGE many Harvard alumni probably have better genetic characteristics in intelligence etc... (assuming politics, power, corruption, money and discrimination over applicants don't apply).

Nothing in the Sandra Laing wiki even show any reference to a DNA test, simply a blood typing test which is wildly inaccurate. It merely excludes possible blood type combinations.

There's a column for religion. What the hell is a prospective customer supposed to do with that?

Well, if your baby came from Jewish sperm then you would need to prepare for that by getting someone to perform a bris. If he was Islamic you would have to get a heavy duty stroller to strap explosives to for suicide bombings. If the sperm donor was Catholic you would have to prepare the baby for a lifetime of sexual abuse starting at an early age.

Why doesn't it have penis size as one of the criteria? If I was shooting blanks and wanted a child, I'd certainly want my child to have a large penis (that has to be genetic). I'd need to know the donors exact measurements.

but sperm doesn't survive long outside the body, even with refrigeration.

As long as freezing conditions remain at a constant, very low, temperature, sperm can survive the freezing process indefinitely. Those sperm that die do so within the first 48 hours of freezing, and the attrition rate thereafter is minimal. Frozen semen can be stored for as long as 50 years without additional sperm deterioration beyond that caused by the original freezing process.

And that's how they store sperm....frozen, not refrigerated. Same with eggs.

That's like saying "Helping Nigerian princes bring their money into the US is a great way to make a living, assuming that it isn't a scam".

Read this Forbes article. Yes, being smart helps you get into the Ivies...but being rich helps even more. I always shake my head when people assume that alumni of famous institutions must have gotten in because of their brains.
