White Box products? Same as OEM?

I'm looking at memory for my digital camera. A website has a cheap price on an IBM microdrive but it is a "White Box" product. Is this just like OEM, or does it mean it's refurbished?

It says in the description that you still get the full IBM warranty?

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I believe there's some sort of nominal difference and hopefully someone can clarify, but for the most part brown/white box and OEM are the same thing.

white box means you get just the core product. no documentation, no original packaging or anything like that. since it says warranty is still in effect, you might get the warranty documentation with it, not sure though. if it's from a reputable dealer, jump all over it.

It could be either OEM or refurbished but by law, it should say which one it is... or whoever is selling it should say what it is.

white box is plain packaging, same as most OEM stuff. really the warranty determines what it is... OEM is warranty through the vendor rather than the maker.

Some OEM's are refurbs. Some are just bulk packaged. Do your homework and find out before you buy.

BTW, dont microdrives have a high failure rate?
