I just read in another thread that this combo is like going down to Hell and given Satan a fat juicy one. 'Tis true? I will be setting up a machine with that combo soon at work. I just want to be prepared.

Thanks in advance.

I had no problems with the initial install of mine but after that I received more errors than I thought possible. Was kinda neat to try though.

Guys, don't you think it's premature to bash Office 10 and Whistler as a combination since they're still in the beta phase?

I'm sure the bugs you speak of will be fixed (within the year) before both are slated for release.

For all of you guys who are wondering, Whistler is awesome! I find it awesome for a Beta. As long as you follow the readme and don't pull any stunts on the Beta OS you'll be fine. :)

Whistler takes Win2000 drivers, and combines some of the best features of both operating systems into one. I have had absolutely no problems with it so far running on both a 56k dialup connection as well as a LAN with multiple T1 access. Major enhancements you will notice off the bat: boot up time, GUI enhancements, imporoved startup management (msconfig and services both work!), cmd.exe and command.com both execute @ run. Quake3 is running good - on par with Win2000 presently. All of my devices were autodetected and are running great.

If I were to rate the OS I'd give it a 8/10 for a Windows OS. The reason I won't give it a 9 is because 1) It's Beta and 2) It seems a bit sluggish with 128MB of RAM. If you have a fast processor (I'd say PII 400) with at least 256MB of RAM, save up your cash; this is a great operating system!

Cheers!

I'd rate Whistler Beta 1 and Office Beta 2 10/10 both.

Whistler is great and runs fast on almost any machine.

Office 10 is great too!! Even Multiple Copy/Paste selection.

All i'm saying is that both are still in beta with bugs. When I installed Office 10 Beta 2 on Whistler Beta 1 on got heaps and heaps errors but it ran fine. It might be different for you or it might be the same. Just try it out for yourself.

I have a extra machine that I could run it on and test stuff.
