I have quite a few tattoos and I wouldn't do that in a million years, same with piercings. Its all personal preference, if thats what she likes, good for her.

I wonder how well it last and maintains definition compared to actual tattoos. Boy is she gonna regret it if if just looks like a big scarry mangled mess in short time.

Hopefully those skin pieces on the ground were picked up and deep fried. Mmmmmm, crispy.

I think it's a cool look when finished, but there's no way I'd get that done to myself.

I like some of the traditional scarring designs done in Africa. The skin gets cut, and lye is put into the opening. It makes a raised scar when it heals. I think it probably looks better on brown skin than white though.
