Whirlpool is recalling 1.8 million of these microwave oven range hoods (over the range units, not countertop) They want you to unplug them immedietly and do not use them, 7 fires have been reported so far. Check your micro for serial numbers that begin XC...... the serial number is right inside the micro when you open the door.
I called yesterday 1-800-785-8897, they will mail out the info to get a service call which can take 6-8 weeks. Sooo in the meanwhile, they are sending a voucher for up to $100.00 to buy yourself a microwave to use in the interim. They said the voucher should arrive within a week. BTW They asked me if I had another microwave to use, which I do not.
