Whining monitor...

My monitor is on the fritz. It has always made a loud noise when I turn it on. Like a 'bong' kinda sound...hard to describe. But I ignored it. But today, i launched the raven shield demo and it started making this high pitched noise that really hurt my ears. I turned the monitor off while the game was still running and it stopped, turned it back on and it was back. So I quit to desktop and no more noise....what the hell is wrong? Is my monitor dying?

You might have your video card set to an ultra-high refresh rate for 3D using one of the tweak utilities, or perhaps from not ever having set a refresh in Windows for the resolution you use for games.

If not that, your monitor will soon be pinin' for the fjords.

i have the exact same problem
it has been bugging me for the past 1 and a half years
lack of funds prevent me from getting an LCD though

Mine makes a high-pitched noise... I just whack the top right corner and it stops.
