I fresh installed Windows 2000 last week, updated to SP4. My last installation used to open Windows Explorer with the Windows 2000 partition opened. My present installation opens at My Computer and I have to click the + box to drill down. Is there a way I can configure it so Explorer at least opens with my partitions exposed?

Another question: I made two installs last week. I installed, had problems and reformatted and installed again, and I thought I chose the exact same options during the install. However, the first time there were about 6 "users" under Documents and Settings. This time there are only 3. That's weird!

The many users you see under Documents and Settings is expected.

On your primary installation of W2K, when Joe logs in, the OS makes a user profile there called Joe.

When you did your parallel installation, that profile is not erased.

When you then log in as Joe on your parallel operating system, the OS knows it needs to create a profile for Joe. However, the name Joe is already in use in the Documents and Settings folder, so it creates a Joe.Computername profile.

What you see in Documents and Settings is all the profiles for both operating systems.
