Just curious, anybody have a good cure for hiccups? There was one on the web that I used back in 1998 or so that worked perfectly, but I can't seem to find it. Help! Anyway, enjoy (?) this story... :Q

A real cure for hiccups

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) -- A man suffering the hiccups asked a friend to punch him in the chest to try to get rid of them. When his friend recluctantly obliged, Joshua Thomas Burchette collapsed on the sidewalk and died.

An autopsy was to be performed on Burchette, 23, to determine the cause of death.

Burchette had complained of hiccups after a couple of beers on Saturday.

The friend was not identified by police.

Burchette's mother, Jeri Ann Fisyer, said her family has a history of heart problems and her son often complained of chest pains, but had never been hospitalized or placed on medication.

Ocean City, MD is 3073 miles from here. They put up a sign on the freeway... "Ocean City, MD 3073". yeah... that's really far.

I drink a bottle of water without pausing. It's been ages since I last had an hiccup. Actually, I was a kid when last I had a hiccup! I haven't had any since about age 10/11. Maybe it's 'cuz I tend to take my time to eat. For even when I'm really hungry, I merely rush my food as most people do.

The best cure for hiccups is to drink water upside down. Works for me every time (if you do it right). Hold the glass in front of you, bring the glass to your mouth, but the side of the glass furthest from you....opposite side than what you normally would. Bend over at the waist, and drink. Make sure your head is upside down, and you're drinking up. Hiccups will be gone.

A teaspoon of sugar is the only thing I've ever had work for me, and it works every time...never has failed. All these things like reciting the alphabet while upside down drinking water make no sense....what is that going to possibly do to cure hiccups?
