It's really annoying. I have win2k, 130ram, running at 450mhz. I have a Soundblaster Live! Value card, and when I play MP3's, and scroll down for example while browsing, or side to side, it makes an awful "static" type of noise, a loud shrill. PLEASE advise if any of you know how to fix this! :(

This is related to the video card drivers, and is a known problem..first of all make sure you are running the latest driver for your video card, then if you are running Winamp for your MP3 player, then check out their FAQ for details of how to avoid this static..Regards

If new drivers don't fix it, it might be time to get a better video card. What kind do you have anyway?

A friend of mine had an old Trident PCI for his video card, and it made the same horrible static noise everytime he scrolled. We changed the card and the problem was solved.

Another possibility might be a BIOS setting. When I first got my old P5MMX-200 I didn't have enough money left for a video card so I had to use my Cirrus Logic 1MB ISA board. It produced static, oddly enough not as bad as my friends PCI card, but I was able to solve it by disabling Delayed Transaction in the BIOS. I'd recommend trying a different video card before trying this option since I'm not exactly sure of the effect of turning it off are.

I've also seen this having to do with mouse drivers, especially if you are running a usb mouse. Does it have static if you scroll with the arrow keys and not the mouse? If not it is probably video.

I've experienced the same thing with a sb64 and a geforce. In the past i've seen someone say that it was from the lack of resources for the pci bus , but i still see these issues with and w/o a pci video card. I think it may have gone away when switching between diffrent versions of refrence drivers, but i dont pay that much attention to "other" audio when im trying to get new drivers working for some game. :p

I have an AMD K6-2 450mhz, 128mb PC100, Ensoniq AudioPCI, Savage 4 32mb AGP, Win2K, Intelimouse Explorer. I have the same static but it seems to be all the time when I move my mouse! I have the latest Sound & Video drivers, any suggestions?
