So it seems that even though we are knee-deep in the 21st century, at least one state is trying to go backwards as the rest of the country moves forwards.
I suspect under the Trump regime they will probably be supported even though the bill looks like it violates constitutional rights.

On its face, the bill passed by the Tennessee legislature Thursday seems innocuous, if a little odd. The one-page measure requires that “undefined words” in state law “be given their natural and ordinary meaning.”
...
But the measure follows a custody dispute last year involving a divorcing lesbian couple in the state, in which one member of the couple’s attorney asked that the judge substitute “spouse and spouse” for references in state law to “husband and wife.”

Is this what it is aimed towards? Sounds potentially harmful. What benefit is the change?
Not knowing a proponent's argument / reasoning, I have no way to view this favorably.

Hopefully someone will be along soon to rage about how the evil PC police are now out to attack the great state of Tennessee. Hopefully with some memes, and videos with long hairs in them.

Gosh! And I'm sure that life for gays in Tennessee was so sweet before this.

I'd love to see the gay community band together and really fuck with a place like Tennessee or Alabama. Get a million people to go sharsies on a single apartment somewhere, establish legal residence so you can vote and take over the elections. Is there any city in American with an all-gay government? Even San Francisco hasn't gotten there yet.

Our state legislature is always trying to out stupid itself each year. They have been trying to make the Bible the state book for a few years running. The big thing last year was making it so mental health professionals can turn down treating people based on religious (i.e. you're gay) reasons.

Hopefully it makes it to the SCOTUS and Gorsuch delivers the crucial 5th vote to uphold the law.

All gay people need to do is boycott anything Tennessee. Companies will pull out.
