which XP sp1 version?

Trying to get a new EP-8RDA+ working. Before loading (new NForce2) drivers, need to load the Service Pack 1 for XP Pro.

I found the SP1a, networked version.
File name is XPSP1A_EN_X86.EXE. Will this work on a standalone or is this different?


Also found winxpsp1_en_pro_bf. This is a boot floppy utility. Not sure if this is the whole sp load.

Any leads on this?

Windows SP1 is the normal version(one you need),the SP1a I believe has java removed.

Both are the same except for the java.

You can use ether one, does not matter.

I have a dial up modem. Since I crash the hard drive periodically, I downloaded the network version and save it to CD. This way I don't have to download a hundred megabytes every time I have drive trouble. If you have dial-up then I'd go for the network version and save it on a CD. If you have a high speed connection then I suppose this doesn't matter much.
