which xp processor should i get?

okay....

so it's time to upgrade my t-bird 1 ghz system to an xp....

i'm thinking of getting the asus a7n8x non-deluxe
2 sticks of samsung original pc2700 256 megs
i'll just use the on board audio and lan

i know that the 1600+ have been o/cing very well from newegg i believe

i was thinking about getting a 1900+ from googlegear.com however but i was wondering what sort of o/c people were getting from their 1900+ from googlegear.com if anyone happens to have one from them....

or just any suggestion as to which xp processor to get and why... thanks!

i would go with at least a 2400+ because the thoroughbred a core is a lackluster performer and plus if u get a 2400+ if im not mistaken u can get tha with a 333mhz bus if not then go for the 2600+

otherwise go for xp1700+ or xp1800+ tbred and overclock

124.99 for mobo
65 for each stick of ram
then X amount for processor ... it'll be more than 300 n/m

1600+ is around 55
1900+ is around 75
2400+ is around 165

i don't care about o/cing... i'd prefer to o/c if possible to save on buying higher rated stuff

Get the Xp1800 tbred and o/c from there. The Xp2400 is not really worthy of what you're gonna spend.

i heard that the xp1700+ tbred and xp 1800+ tbred hit a brick wall at around the same speeds
so i'd recommend a xp 1700+ tbred because it is cheaper
buy it from newegg

not when that core is in a 1700+
they overclock sometimes to 2 GHz, that's not lackluster really, and the CPU's are VERY inexpensive.
I'd get a 1700+ or 1800+ if your budget is tight.
if not, 2400+ is the only way to go. the others start getting very expensive (2600 and up)

Then I would say get the 1700 for 58 and a decent copper base HSF.

If you can afford the XP2400, why wouldn't you get it? 2.0 Ghz right there, plus the latest revision of the T-Bred core. From what I've read, you should be able to overclock it to 2.2 or 2.3 Ghz with normal air cooling (copper heatsink of course) and 2.4-2.5 with water cooling.
