Which XP Pro should I run?

Here what I have..

Asus A8N-E mobo
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Processor (San Diego) Socket 939
w/ 2 GB Ram

Would XP Pro x64 be the better OS to run w/ my machine? Is the 64 bit that much better?

I mostly likely will not be running any 64 bit programs so really there's no need for X64...guess I just answer my question...

thanks

I'd stick with 32-bit XP Pro. The 64-bit OS would be better once it is more universally supported by all hardware manufacturers. But until then, I'll keep the 32-bit XP for compatibility despite the benifits 64-bit XP could provide.

Kind of confused about the whole 64-bit XP. There aren't really that many applications that take advantage of it yet. And with Vista around the corner(err....a few blocks away)..what will become of 64-bit XP? I can't remember if Vista has 64-bit support or not, but I didn't think so.

Just kinda weird to go to XP for a few years, throw out 64-bit XP that no one has truly touched yet, then throw out Vista. Might as well SKIP 64-bit XP. IMO anyways.

Yes, Vista will have 64bit support. So I would (at least at this point) not upgrade to x64. I bought XP x64 when it came out in April of last year. I still use it today, but I had to take it off my main machine because it doesn't support my remote.

If you feel like being risky, go ahead and buy it. But I think a lot of companies will be drpping support for it (at least the ones that do support it) once Vista coes out, because the driver models between XP and Vista are completely different.

If you do buy it, just be prepared to drop another $130 on XP Pro 32bit.
