Which XP OS for pc NOT connecting to Internet?

It's for a little kid to play Nancy Drew games on and stuff. The PC will never be connected to the internet. It's an older pc with 256 RAM. Is there a modified version of XP i could use or should I just install XP PRO and no service packs and turn off most services? I just want something that'll run fast.

THanks

XP with classic theme and no unneeded services. Unless you happen to have a copy of Pro and licence lying around or your "vendor" happens to know a lot of sea shanties(if you take my meaning) you should just go with XP Home. Joe Kiddy doesn't need Enterprise Software Solutions(tm) or AD compatibility.

They aren't as stable and/or lacking support for games and/or driver support and/or new features worth having regardless.

It'd be cheaper and a computer thats for a little kid to play around with is not only a low end machine but isn't connected to the internet so it doesn't really matter.

Definitely so for 98, but that's complete nonsense for 2000 - it's very stable and plays all games perfectly including even many of the latest titles, which I play at home without issue.

Nevertheless, if the OP is looking to use XP, I'd recommend using "Home"; it's less expensive than "Pro" and the lacking features like support for Domains and multi-processor support aren't going to be an issue for the needs of the kid.

On an older PC I'd go Win2000 if you could get hold of it.

It uses less resources, its very stable, runs all the latest games and older harware will be supported better.

If you want to go XP, then Home would be the cheapest, just make sure you disable all the useless crap.

I already have XP that's why I wanted to use it. How do I uninstall the Games folder with the crapola games? I couldn't find it in ADD/REMOVE Windows Components under ADD/REMOVE Programs.
