Just about to pull the trigger on an XL, Zipzoomfly has all three within $3.01 of each other. Which brand is the best out of the 3 and why. GP

How much are they?

NM checked For 370 thats OK. I would go for the Sapphire unless the MSI has a good bundle.

NM again Looks like the MSI is out of stock I would go for the Sapphire then.

MSI looks backordered, so the Powercolor model since it has VIVO.

I think they're all a bit too much however, IMO, VIVO isn't worth a $70 premium over MSRP, and the Sapphire card should be cheaper than the VIVO models.

Saphire is the EVGA of ATI, cant go wrong with them. Do not get MSI, Powercooler is okay.

362 for the saphire at monarch is a decent price.

Sapphire is also the MSI of ATI if you recall the 128bit 9800pro cards (Atlantis anybody), so YMMV whether you can go "wrong" with Sapphire or not😉

That has nothing to do with the quality of their cards, not to mention it was only one card. Saphire actully makes ATI's cards in europe.

Sapphire is a subsidiary of PC Partner, which has manufactered most of ATI's cards over the last several years IIRC.

Their shady marketing of the Atlantis "9800pro" card says everything about the "quality" of their marketing team and their product specifications. It wasn't "just" one card, they absolutely took advantage of the popularity of the 9800pro at the time (and their good name) and "quietly" launched a card with a crippled memory bus as a 9800pro for an attractive lower price when infact it was(is) nothing more than the 9500pro version of the 9800 GPU. Only pressure from the community made them come "clean" and start disclosing the real specs on their product page, and offer duped card buyers to "buy up" to a "real" 9800pro for another $25.

So, sometimes...yes you can go wrong with Sapphire.

I like the Powercolor one.

There was a review of the Saphire VS Asus, and the Saphire was very loud. The Asus and Powercolor seem to use a similar heatsink, so hopefully the Powercolor would be as quiet as the Asus.

Also, the Powercolor has VIVO, which is a bonus.

Overall, it looks like a better card. I currently have a Powercolor 9700 pro, and I like it fine.

-D'oh!

The only thing that I don't like about Powercolor X800 XL is the fan doesn't slow down period.

However the pics of the card I c at Newegg have different looking cooler. Anybody has this card and can tell me if it sounds like huricane?

I wanted to get AIW, and forgot that even if i had money to get aiw x800 xt it's AGP. I just got RS480M2-IL to hold me off while I transition from my already sold AIW 9800Pro to somth else. It seems like only decent minimum upgrade from 9800pro is XL, 256-bit is very important isn't it? Anyways, now to get a multimedia features on my comp I am thinkin of getting the Powercolor X800 XL and Hauppauge WINTV-PVR 150 (or maybe somth based on ATI 550 chip?). And I hope it will be quiet, what you guys think?

Go for the powercolor x800xl as it has a very solid aluminum heatsink that has been shown to overclock farther than the sapphire version. Not that heat is a problem at stock speeds, but the extra cooling at stock or overclocked speeds is always welcome. The noise made from the video card is not severe in anycase. It is only a small issue if you have sensitive ears or are extremely picky.

A vote for Powercolor!
