I have a 400 Mhz PII and a 32 MB Radeon PCI SDRAM. Which would be better: upgrading the processor or the video card? With the processor I will have to get a new motherboard.

You should definitely upgrade the motherboard and processor. The combination you have is holding you back much more than the video card.

Yet another vote for the MB and CPU. Pick up a Shuttle AK31A, XP 1600+, and 256MB DDR. That would give your system a well needed kick;)

You can probably put a 100 fsb Pentium III in that board (slot 1). Since the board does do 100 mhz FSB cause that is what the PII 400 uses.

That would save you a lot of money if you don't want to get a new motherboard.

You can get a 1000 mhz Pentium III for 222 on pricewatch. It is a bit pricey.... Yeah... Way to pricey. You may just want to go with an Athlon and a new board.
