An uninspiring dinner with your favorite dessert or your favorite breakfast food for dinner?

Hmm it's never too late to have a good breakfast. I'm not really a morning eater, I'm just not hungry that early. So it's typical for me to have a bacon and eggs lunch or even dinner. When I work weekend day shifts I typically get a bacon and eggs platter for lunch from this place across the street.

Breakfast for dinner is great.

Breakfast food at 2am after a night in the bars is even better. That was always by far my favorite time for bacon and eggs or waffles.

I have not eaten truly fine strawberry short cake in many years.

Strawberry shortcake is one of those things that looks deceptively simple, but it almost impossible to nail. Every person that eats it likes it a different way and no matter how you do it most of the eaters will be disappointed because it's not done their way. On the plus side, even mediocre strawberry shortcake is pretty good. Macerate some berries, toss on a slice of pound cake, top with whipped cream out of a can and it works,

I like the cake to be soft, fluffy, and VERY sweet. It balances out the strawberries. Few cooks can do it properly.

You get the best of both worlds, sweet and savory, which nullifies the first option entirely.
