which would you rather have?

If my memory serves me correctly peices of eight were what spanish gold coins were comonly called because to make a smaller purchase the coin was split into eight parts and spent that way.
 
if the 8 pieces of eight came from dubloons, then i'll have to go with dubloons, sometimes when people cut them pieces, they pocket a small piece of the pieces.
