I think any good parent would give anything of themselves so their child can succeed / be happy.

as a parent, it is my sole endeavor to ensure that my children can responsibly, independently, compassionately and successfully achieve, or, at the very least, strive for, that which makes them happy, regardless of what my own standing is.

but, if my children do indeed reach this level success, then, at the very least, i don't see how i could be considered a total loser.

I'd rather be successful, but when I have children my priorities will change I imagine.

What if they're successful despite how much of a loser you are?

That's a really tough one - a good parent is willing to make sacrifices for their children. No good parent wants their children to end up as losers. Thus, I think I'd lean in that direction.

I'm fortunate that I don't have to worry about it. Both kids have been successful; ditto my wife and myself.

"Successful with no children" would be my first option but I picked "Successful with loser children" since you can toss 'em out at 18 and then you essentially have my first choice.

Well, my dad is successful with loser kids, so the only option I realistically have is to be a loser and have successful kids.

Simple.

If you're a loser and your children are successful, that's your problem.

If you're successful and your children are losers, that's everybody's problem.
