and if i want to bring down my body fat a little more, what would be better? my body fat right now is around 8-9%
 
Working out your calves, increasing explosiveness, enhancing dexterity, and somewhat increasing endurance. The first three are the primaries, the last is really just a small side effect.
 
I'm sure jump roping offers some aerobic benefits. Just do it for a while and you'll probably get your heart rate up. Just not as good as ole' fashioned running.
