Which would be faster?

Does it make a difference...

AMD 64 3200+ Winchester 939

1.) 8 x 275 (2.5-4-4-8 1t)
2.) 10 x 220 (2-2-2-8 1t)

The end product is still the same, 2.2ghz. But does running the memory at ddr550 instead of 440 make a difference?

Please discuss.

I'd say the 275 x 8 would be faster, but I'd test it both ways - it's the only way to know for sure.

timings are VERY important to memory speed, in fact much more so that ddr2 speeds are generally slower than ddr1(ull)
2.5-4-4 just dosent cut it.

of course, the htt might make up for it. still, id personally go 220x10.

edit: or use a memory divider and go 250 or 260x10

Bench test both using several tests Sandra bandwidth, PCmark, 3dmark, Aquamark etc....
I think you'll find 8 x 275 faster

The settings in your sig, will beat either one of these by a sizeable margin

yeah, theres just nothing that I am doing right now to be running at 2.5ghz, the 9800 pro is a bottleneck anyways so not much point in oc'ing but can easilly
