Which would be faster, the Epox EP-8K5A2+ or the ECS K7VTA3?

I want to give the faster and better of these two to my nephew. He has the Epox now and I just bought the ECS from Fry's w/ the 2000+ Thornton.
Now I had just ordered him a 2500+ Barton for his Epox when I came upon the Fry's sale. The ECS with a 333fsb reads the Thornton at 2600+, so I haven't tried to enable the rest of the cache.
I could put the Barton on the Epox board, or send it back and put the Thornton on the Epox or just leave the Thornton on the ECS and swap that into his pc.
I just don't know which to give him. 😕
 
I would say barton on epox board would be better. Barton has 512 L2 cache😎 thornton only 256. Epox boards are tried and true, although some have had good luck w/ ecs.

Ok, now I need to up the ante.
I have 2 bartons and 2 boards. One barton is locked, the other isn't.
Which board should get the unlocked one? Sounds like a riddle? 🙂

Board one is an Epox RDA+ with the nforce2 chipset w/ (2) modules of OCZ EL 256MB pc3500 ddr,
board two is an Epox 8K5A2+ with the via KT333 chipset w/ (1) module of Corsair XMS 512MB pc2700 ddr

My thinking is to put the locked Barton into the RDA+ as I'm sure I could up the fsb to 200 and be content with 2.2GHz.
The 8K5A2+ probably won't take the fsb as high so I will need to play with the multiplier to get the probable 2.2GHz ceiling.

I hope this one is unlocked.. it's stepping is:

that would be the best path. some 8k5a2s will do 200 fsb, but since there's no pci/agp lock on it, you're gonna be in for some hdd corruption i'm sure. add that to the pc2700 you have and you have the perfect makings of a 13.5x166 barton there running at 2.241. might be able to push higher.

and, yeah, that should be unlocked from what i've read.
