My personal opinion here... if the geforce 3 is working for you save until you can get some "new" hardware. The geforce 4 won't be an extremely noticeable upgrade. Of course that's just my opinion....

Unless you get a Radeon 9700 pro (or something along those lines) you won't notice a hugh difference in speed. You didn't mention your price range. The 9700 pro's run about $250

If you *have* to get one of those you mentioned, get the ti4200. Ignore the 8X AGP, it's pratically worthless. However the wise thing to do would be to save some more and get a DX9 card. The 9700 Pro is coming down in price.

I dont have a geforce 3 ti anything its just a plain old geforce 3, I bought this thing from newegg about as soon as it was available from gainward and newegg so its not a new version of geforce 3 or anything...

what is better ? or for the money that is.

For ATI, get atleast the 9500 Pro or above including the 9700 and 9700 Pro. Basically, whichever fits your price range with highest performance. In terms of speed, Nvidia wo n't have anything for some time, atleast a month or two and then the only one worth counting will be the "Value" version of the 5900 Ultra at $300.

Currently, you're better off with an ATI 9700 or 9700 Pro, whichever you can fit in your price range.

The 4 series are getting outdated. What disturbs me is that GF4600 i like very much has a tv in. But its only dx8, and DX9 games cometh upon us. So u stuck with 9500 Pro from Sapphire - great card, easily overclockable to 9700, and performs on par with 4600, which is the fastest of GeForce
s 4th family. But the darn thing doesnt have a tv in!!! BUt i still HIGHLY recommend the 9500 Pro from sapphire (only 178 on newegg).
