which work situation would you rather be in?

Would you rather:

A) work the typical 9-5 pm, surf the web most of the time and learn almost nothing

or

B) work more stressful hours (9- 7/8 pm), have more responsibilities and deadline pressure, but you learn more. You get exposure to the financial industry and you are around smarter/more accomplished group of people. However, you will have no access to any chatting software (to stay in touch with friends like we all use at work) :|
You will be worked much harder than A

The pay is the same
I am in my 20s if that makes any difference

edit: or should I search hard for option C. A 9-5 schedule with the benefits of B and opportunity to learn many skills...

if you want the work experience to earn more money go with B. If your a doper, your going to look for the path of least resistance.

If the pay was good I'd take A, if the pay wasn't so good, I'd go with B to get more experience and better money. A job that sucks though isn't worth all the money in the world. If I could make a living, and be reasonably happy with my work, I'd take the easy path.

I did A for about 4 years. Just recently switched to a B situation about a month ago. Same pay, same job. No time to nef, surf anymore. But I'm in a bigger department that will give me more exposure to promotion opportunities.

I've already had the high stress, plenty of times. Given what its done to mental and physical health, I'd take the easy life, if I had a choice.
But these days you had damn well better take what you can get. No time to be picky.

Loving it. I actually asked for the transfer to this place. I'm having to learn some new things but it's just stuff to add to a resume for later.

It has put me around co-workers that are the same grade as me so it's now competitive in a sense. Daily work load is a bit more but it's manageable. And it makes the day go by quicker.

B, to an extent. I do it currently and have for the last 3 1/2 years. But, there does come a point where it's a bit much. Just gets a bit tiring to always be working, always be thinking about work. Surprised the hell out of me this last weekend to be in the middle of Eastern Washington, hunting, forty miles from nowhere, and caught myself thinking about the work I'll have to do when I get back.

I like being challenged, but I don't like being in an environment where I'm overloaded, given unclear expectations, and giving little guidance as to the tasks I'm performing. But, that's more a function of a specific work environment, not the type of work environment.

I sometimes envy my friends who are the same age, but made choices that enabled them to make more and have less stress - mostly entering the job market a year or so before I did and choosing to job jump after a certain amount of time. I keep telling myself that in twenty years I'll be making a lot more than them and it'll be worth it, but honestly, I waver at the thought of giving up all of my twenties to a corporate meat grinder.

Somewhere in the middle actually. More typical hours, for the most part, and not really hyper stressful (though every job has some), but still get to do fun stuff and learn.

I used to be in a job B, switched to my current job which is an A, I hate it, HATE it with a PASSION.

Going back to another 'B' type job. Already interviewed and offered.

i've done both A and B. I would choose B easily.

a boring job will just eat your life away. you'll learn to deal with the inconveniences like no chat software and restricted internet access. and if they keep you super busy, it's not like you'd have time for it anyways.
