hi everyone, i am in the market for a wireless router. I am up in the air on which router to buy. I have looked at the belkin G router and it seems pretty nice. The only downfall is that you have to do some work to get their branded wireless G card to work with linux. I also have thought about the linksys G router because of the work being done on their firmware and supposedly you can get a firmware for it that adds $1000 features to this router. I would asume it supports SPI which is a feature i want. The only thing ive heard is the linksys signal quality isn't the best. I have a friend who has the G router using linksys latest firmware and he also has a d-link g router and he said the d-link has a much better signal quality but he still uses the linksys because of the vonage features on it. Anyways help me decide which one i ought to get :).

i can't stand belkin routers personally. i have a B and G router made by them and the user interface is horrible.

I got in on a deal for the 11b Belkin Routers a while back from Buy.com (like 9.00 shipped). The range is pretty terrible and the UI sucks. I would advise against it based on my experience.

i'm on the good ol' wrt54g, very very happy with it. have the sveasoft firmware on it, i've rebooted it twice in the past year, both were unintentional in that i unplugged the power by mistake. thing is stable as you can get, decent range (that can be boosted with the firmware) and great features. i wouldn't go any other way.

have used dlink and netgear in the past. good routers, but i would never go back to them after the 54g

have been using dlink for abt a year. well satisfied with them. have the 624 and the 524.
but i think the dwl-g630 wireless card is a bummer. i get more distance using a smc b
card it seems. also watch out for the weak antennaes on the dlink. they break easy.
saw an ad for the linksys g for 39.00 shipped. i think i will try that one. hear good reviews from them
