Question Which (Windows) bittorrent program would you recommend to the average person?

It's one of those occasions where me migrating from Windows has negative consequences on my 'finger on the pulse' of what goes on in Windowsville these days - back when I was using Windows I think I used uTorrent without any issues, but my brother (who's new to Windows after using a Mac for a long time) ended up getting some scammy "security software" on his computer, and I think uTorrent was the program he installed that resulted in this stuff getting sideloaded. Also, malwarebytes doesn't like uTorrent for whatever reason.

Any recommendations for a program coupled with a clean source? It reminds me of that era where one had to be careful when downloading FileZilla for Windows because of crapware that came with the "official" installer.

I have used transmission recently. Seems to be pretty lean and straight forward.

Regarding these recommendations, is the official source clean?

I did a quick test install of Transmission into a Win10 VM and it seemed to behave itself.

Yes. The code's libre on both, so you can inspect it if desired. YMMV getting the packages from somewhere other than the dev site.

I use both Qbittorrent and Transmission.
Qbittorrent has more options and Transmission is much leaner.
I find both are very good.

some download faster, and other download at a micron at a time. Snails pace.

its really preference: they both get you the same thing

some files cant be retrieved
you might experiment with the experience of each

I found the downloading slower one, you can queque more and leave it running.

the faster downloads rip through them and then you are bottlenecked until you can man this computer terminal system position again..........

its not the program that is the malware, it is the things you are downloading. This is a security guards treasure trove, to be able to secure these files.

if not, your computer might black screen
blue screen and leave you hanging at some point

good to have all the proper security already in place
heads up

mc caffee is crap, probably even the actual problem itself

heard about it, about this company

they do it on purpose to scare people into buying more security products

and then sales are up somehow
