Which windows 7?

Well I'm building a new computer and need an OS for it, I'm thinking I should just skip vista and use the windows 7 beta till it's officially released.

The only problem is I see there are like 15 different builds out there right now of the beta and am confused which one I should download... I have a beta key from microsoft, will that only work for version 7000? I'm guessing other versions dont need keys?

I need a 64-bit version

7000 has been rock steady. I have used it since its release on my everyday system without issue. I have had 7052 installed on my netbook for around a month without issue but to say it gets light use would be an understatement. I haven't used a key with 7052 and it hasn't complained yet. I want to say I read it was good until 2010 sometime but I wouldn't swear to that.

Beta keys work with anything after (and including) the 7000 build. The latest build is, technically, 7077. However, there is a 7106 build around, though it apparently uses code from 7076.

7000 was terrible for me,7068 was better, anyway I'm trying 7077 build right now however its still installing.

I've had good luck with 7077. I run it through Parallels on my MacBook and it's pretty snappy and hasn't presented any problems. I'm liking 7 quite a bit (then again, I've never had an issue with Vista, either).

7076 was the RC escrow build, 7077 was released as the weekly. Its the same build (they built 76 as 7106 and then removed the install lock and built 77.

Just installed this as my main OS tonight. Can't believe how rock solid it is and love all the new GUI changes. I'm really impressed and will be buying this when it is released.

i had trouble with 7068. windows would stop painting and then get filled in with random colors. 7057 didn't have the problem. i haven't tried a different build.

how much does it cost to get a subscription to tech net? back in the day everyone told me it was around 1k to get it for a year which to me was absolutely rediculous but im begining to wonder if that was true and what you get with it now.
