which will be a better solution for wireless on a desktop?

I just built a new gaming computer, and I am wondering about how I should approach wireless connectivity for lan parties. I already have a linksys 54mb/s wireless pcmcia card for my labtop, and i thought about getting a pci to cardbus card so i can use my current card with my pc. I have also thought about getting a usb 2.0 wireless adapter. Which do you think will be a better choice? what do you think will perform better?

1. Take into consideration that this adaptor are Not always compatible with all PCMCIA Cards.

2. In most cases, the adaptor costs the same or more than a decent PCI card on sale.
