Which WiFi PC Card to get?

I'm going to a university next year that has WiFi access points. I'll have a laptop am interested in getting a WiFi PC Card to connect to the network. I would like one where the antenna isn't fixed on the card (radiating my lap), but one where the antenna is connected by a cord and could be attached to the screen or elsewhere (since radiation falls off by the square of distance(. Is there such a product on the market? Thanks for the help.

USB Wireless Cards consist of a small module connected to the USB port with 2? USB cable; the antenna is on the module.

Cisco has a nice line of Wireless PCMCIA cards with antenna jack, and a nice selection of external antennas. Good solution but more expensive then the USB solution.

Yeah, I would agree...a USB version is probably best if you want a movable antenna. Besides Cisco, ORiNOCO has a USB NIC.
