Which Western Digital 3.5" is better overall as a secondary drive for storage, backups:

WD30EZRZ or WD30EFRX.

Aside from the warranty, 2 years vs 3-years. Looking to put the drive in an enclosure and use it mostly for offline backups, etc. Had nothing but issues with Seagate in the past.

Thanks

I'd recommend the longer warranty if given that choice.
It really is a personal decision however.
I personally like toshiba and hitachi lately.

Go with the Red for backup and storage purpose.

I love HGST, but damn, they are noisy. I'd never consider using them at home. Only in a production environment where noise isn't a concern.

My camera surveillance system has a wd purple and it's very loud when writing. The blacks in my desktop are quiet and decently fast for 7200rpm spinners. I've had good service from hitachi, wd and Seagate but as with all things your mileage may vary and for the past few years I've stuck exclusively with wd.

I have a couple 2TB WD Red drives, they have been good, just like all the other WD drives I have, mostly WD Blacks. However, for some reason, the 3TB Red seems to have more problems than the other WD Red drives, you might need to take that into consideration.

I've never had a problem with WD hard drives, even though I currently prefer HGST drives, which is owned by Western Digital.
