There aren't any good places worth checking compulsively anymore.

My custom start page has Anandtech, HardOCP, Arstechnica, X-Bit Labs and Tech Report for tech stuff, but I go to HardOCP and Ars the most, the others only when I run out of stuff to do. For humor, Penny Arcade, The Onion, and BBSpot. Then CNN just to get my small dose of news, which usually results in me ranting in IRC about how horrid the world is and how stupid people are.

One could go a week without checking on computer news, and still not miss anything that you couldn't catch up on with one article.

Ars is good if you feel like reading some technical articles and delve into how processors work. They don't write that sort of thing nearly often enough though. Nothing new happening that is worth writing about.
