i can't find this information on the picasa website.

what happens if your subscription to the paid service expires when you have >1gb of photos in your acct? do they freeze your account for a certain period of time or do they delete everything >1gb?

flickr. But I don't put up large numbers of pictures, only my best. If I did lots of pics I'd use picasa.

Picasa's browsing interface is much better... I really should switch over. I hate Flickr's.
