We've got some serious conflicting weather reports for tomm... Which do you find to be the most accurate?

Weather forecasting for temperature and rain seems to be hella-inaccurate for me.. Hell, my own thermometer will say it's 95 degrees F outside.. and weather.com would say it's currently 80 degrees F.. A 15-degree difference is pretty inaccurate...

Psst. Weather forecasts are not meant for your particular thermometer. You got that puppy in the shade? In the sun? At the standard 30 ft elevation? Near trees? Open field?

What is amazing is that anyone can predict the weather at all. It's like prediction human behavior. You can make general statements about activities, but you can't nail down precisely what they will be doing, and the further out you go the less you will be able to predict their activity. For this purpose weather is like people, largely chaotic.

Move your thermometer out of the sun 😛

National Weather stations are calibrated to exact weather data collection standards. Unfortunately, most of the stations are located at airports, which may not reflect the weather patterns in the proximity you're sitting in. For instance, "airport weather" tends to be windier and usually cooler than urban jungles where temps can rise due to surrounding cement.

If you really want to know the true weather in your proximity, then purchase a weather station and install it yourself. You can even upload your weather data to show the world.

wunderground reports personal weather stations, which may be closer to you and share conditions.

Wait...

Airports are nothing but vast, unshaded expanses of concrete and asphalt.

Not really, there's a lot of open ground space and only few low level buildings, often for miles. Compare that to cities where you have large vertical buildings with huge surface areas, HVACs, and automobiles stuck in traffic blasting out heat.

Also worth noting that most airports only publically refresh their data every hour or so, not very frequent at all compared to some home weather stations out there that refresh literally in seconds.
