Which way does the FDD cable plug in?

The red side of the ribbon cable should go towards the power connector.

If the power connector happens to be above the ribbon cable connector, the red side of the ribbon cable should *probably* go to the left when viewing the drive from the rear. Also, if keyed, the key on the connector *probably* goes towards the bottom of the drive.

Be sure not to have a valuable disk in the drive incase you get the cable backwards. It'll toast that disk!!

Thanks amish,

I think I toasted my last disk like that. Damn thing! I am attempting to revive my VA-503+ before I go out and get an Asus P5A-B. I guess I did it wrong first, since the light went on right away, and the disk doesn't work in this (P83) computer anymore.

Just made a new one (with the correct stuff on it anyway). Hopefully I've got it plugged in properly... We'll see. Well, chances are it won't help anyway, but I wanna make sure I do everything I can before I buy a new board.

They are user friendly, ya have to know how to use em. RED on the left looking at the pins. The power connector dealy doesn't work with floppies, only HDD and CDs.
