i just got the chocolate, the krzr mainly was significantly more expensive, like $50 (50%) more.

The chocolate is ok, it's a little bit fat/thick compared to the SLVR. The touch buttons are kind of a pain, they're kind of erratic regardless of sensitivity setting.

Battery life when using any of the interesting features is obviously terrible, but that's probably not different from any other loaded phone.

Frys was selling $17 512 MB micro SD cards which worked great.

Verizon has best reception in San Francisco Bay Area.
Plus, you get to use your minutes nights and weekends for express network access for your pc, which comes in handy on the road.

I am probably going to end up getting the KRZR, because it has speakerphone. Chocolate doesn't :(

Chocolate has speaker phone. When (if) you get your phone ask them to upgrade the phone to the V4 firmware.

I own the chocolate - here are my impressions of it, you may/may not find it useful. I'll try to give you info with the assumption that you might care ;) In case you don't in general real fast..

pros : it's a sleek nice phone, camera is pretty nice, music feature isn't bad
cons : Battery Life, Speakerphone is .. meh.

The phone looks amazing, the gloss is nice and makes the phone stands out. You'll probably want to get some form of protection. I'm not gentle with my phone but i'm not rough with it. I try my best to keep it out of my pocket with my keys, but sometimes it might be in there. After 2 months, the phone looks pretty nice still, but there are visual marks. I've picked up an Oakley sunglass bag and keep it in that - it was free so i figure if it helps just a little it's worth it. There are plastic screens you can buy that work to protect it too.

The interface/button system is a little counter-intuitive at first, but makes sense later (i'm not sure really how to describe it). The side buttons are small, and can be annoying to press. The buttons (numbers) are a decent size, they arn't too difficult to press. The sliding mechanism is pretty solid, after two months of (ab)use it's holding up strong.

The phone (communications) is pretty good at recieving calls, etc. I live in Orange County, CA, my previous phone was an LG VX6000 (the clamshell) and it is far superior. I get really decent reception, I can make calls almost anywhere which is a vast improvement over my old phone. I have access to EV-DO almost constantly if that's important to you.

Music - The best way I have found is a Memorycard (MicroSD) and a USB adapter thing for the card. It works out really well, the card takes a second to access but all in all the speed is really reasonable.
Pictures - saving pictures to the card, there is a good amount of lag access the pictures, viewing in gallery. Saving to the card after you take a picture there isn't a lag really, just when viewing.

Bluetooth functions on the phone work pretty well - I've connected it to my computer via BitPM - you gotta set it as a VX8300 even though the chocolate is a VX8500. You can get a lot of information from howardforums in regards to setting up your own ringtones, transfering mp3's via bluetooth if you dont' have a cable/memory card.
If you choose to transfer MP3's over bluetooth it takes a long long while and you have to do it one at a time via BitPM. MemoryCard is far superior but for ringtones (which you can clip from full length MP3's via Audacity then transfer)- the transfers are reasonable. BTW: Ringtones 30-40 seconds in length seems to work well, lower the better.

Mp3 - The default is through the same speaker as speakerphone. the quality isn't great but it's not bad. You can use bluetooth headphones, but i didn't invest in it. I honestly don't use the music function all that much, but I do have a number of mp3's loaded onto the phone and use it on occasion and like it overall. I wouldn't use it (the phone) to replace an ipod, but the function exists i guess.

Battery - The battery on a scale of 1-10 would probably rank 4. I use my phone a decent->high amount between music, games, text messaging, calls. I get generally speaking probably 30 hours with regular usage, -maybe- two days if i'm being more conservative (short trips without my charger). The battery is 800mh? I forget the rating, but it's apparently pretty low for a battery, a cell phone battery.

Overall I love my phone, I wish it had a better battery. Before you suggest buying an extended battery, sadly I don't believe there is one (through verizon at least). If you do buy one, make sure to pickup a microSD card for virtually unlimited picture taking, ability to have some measure of mp3 use.
