Today I recieved my Vista Release to market (RTM) dvd 's of Windows Vista Ulimate.

I can only register and activate one version. Should I do the 64 bit or the 32 bit?

My computer is mainly for games.

FX-57
Crossfire Motherboard
ATI X1900XT

I have heard it might be buggy for games in 64 bit mode.

Any input would be great.

TIA

Why do you say that?

I got them free from microsoft for being on the Vista beta team. They send you both as a thank you for being on the team, but with the catch that you can only register 1 of them.

My games on HP Vista x64 run fine, it's not a question of being buggy, but more of Vista drivers are still new for both Vista x64 and x68 so you'll get improvements with time in all areas.Vista x64 is solid OS from what I have experience so far, with time the drivers will be awesome, main problem with Nvidia drivers with Vista at the moment only are only basic features in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Btw Creative Labs have yet to release official sounds drivers for Vista x64/68,due end of the week I hear, beta ones are available at the moment.

Are you talking about registration or activation?

I thought that activation would link the code to the hardware hash. I didn't know the hash was a function of the OS version.

Can anyone confirm this?

Here is what the instructions say.

Each DVD has its own product key which will allow you to install and activate one retail license of either the 32 bit-version Windows Vista Ulitmate Edition or the 64 bit-version Windows Vista Ulitmate Edition.

Like stated above I may try both if I dont have to activate for 30 days :) Trying to avoid 2 installations though :)

actually you can try either for 120 days (just make sure to reset the activation period before day 30 otherwise you will have to activate) you can reset it 3 times (30 + reset 1 + ...) so that should be plenty of time to figure out which works. Also while I could be mistaken if you register 32 and later decide to switch to 64 I would suspect that if you called them they wouldn't have a problem switching your activation to 64 (they would have a problem with you running 32 and 64 at the same time with the same key)

ex. no 64-bit Flash player.

You can use 32 bit version,I'm using Firefox 32 bit with 32 bit java, flash etc... and 64 bit Thunderbird, nice to mix and match so covers all bases,I can use Firefox 64 bit version if I want too, however as you know there's no 64 bit java or flash at the moment .
