Which video platform to choose for new pc?

I want to build a new gaming rig that I will be happy with for a long time. The last box that I built was based on an Abit KT7A-Raid rev1.1 motherboard (bought it when it first came out), so that tells you how often I build new boxes.

Anyway, I have two questions:

1) What is going to happen to the AGP platform for video now that PCI-X is available? i.e., Is AGP eventually going to go away, so that if I build a new rig with an AGP video card, it will not have much if any upgradability?

2) If I build a system based on the PCI-X platform, should I wait until the second revisions are available? When I bought my KT7A board rev.3 wasn't out yet which was less buggy and had more features.

This is somewhat off the cuff, but I dont think that AGP will be replaced any time in the near future. Odds are, if the board has 8x AGP (which any decent board will these days) it will server its purposes for quite a while I normally get a new board and cpu every 1.5-2 years, so I anticipate getting a PCI-X on my next board (which will be in about 1.5 years) as I just bought a board recently.

Bottomline, feel free to get a PCI-X board, but I personally would wait until some of the kinks get worked out. If you want to upgrade now get a nice 875 based board if you want intel or an nForce3 250 or Ultra if you want AMD (A64 754pin and 939pin respectivly).
