Not looking for game card.

For $40 I can get a:

Rosewill Geforce4 MX4000 128MB DDR AGP 4X/8X

ASUS V9520-X/TD/128 Geforce FX5200

Which one will serve better as a general card?

:sun:

P.S. It goes into a WinXP x64 so ATI is seems not be a solution since their cards bellow 9500 are not compatible with x64.

for 50 u can get an x300 which is better than both of those. the geforece 4 mx is like my geforce 2 gts...which came out 4-5 years ago.

You could try a refurb geforce 6200 or 6600 for less than $70 i think (the 6200 being less)...h/o lemme check real quick...

ok, the cheapest 6200 refurb is $58, but on it's own it's a good card for that price. It has shader model 3.0 support, and if you get a good card you can softmod it and OC it to a 6600, which is a great deal...though, it is refurb, so it could arive dead.

But, you aren't gaming, so I'd go with the 5200 just because it's newer.

If it's not for gaming, and your motherboard supports integrated graphics, go with that. Otherwise, either of those will suit you just fine for 2-D ONLY.

you might wanna look into a card with DVI connection (Geforce 4 MX doesn't have one), you might need it in the future (or now, if you have an LCD), so I guess the 5200 will be better.
