i have dfi nf4 board, (512x2) patriot xbk and amd 64 3200+ and 17 inch lcd screen.

when i play games, i want to use 1024x768 in high detail like 4xAA stuff like that. the video card should have sm3.0 and HDR, too.

which video card is suitable for me?

6800U
6800GT

if you pick 6800U or 6800gt , should i go with sli or not?

7800 GT
7800 GTX

the best deal at this point in time is the sapphire x800 gto2. you just unlock it to perform like an x850xt. you can't do better for $200

no SLI for the 6800GT/U

i personally would take the 7800 GT but it all depends on the budget. but why such low res? if thats the case the GT would suffice

The geforce 6 and 7 series have HDR, but you cant use AA with it enabled. The new Ati cards will supposedly let you use both, so I'd wait and see how those turn out. And even if you're only playing at 1024 res, modern games like FEAR will give even the 7800gtx a good workout with all the eye candy maxed out, so get the best card you can afford.

What it come down to is either get a 7800gt, or one of the new Ati cards. We'll know which is better tomorrow.

Id wait till the new ati cards come out then go from there. Maybe price drops and info for the new cards....

If you had to choose now, id go for the 7800gt. Thats just me though.

If you want the best possible gaming experience, I really think you should go S3 Virge. The chipset has outstanding features and has enough memory to run 800 X 600 resolution. The Trident is also another good alternative.

Almost forgot to mention that your CPU might not be able to keep up with it. So I do recomend upgrading your processor as well.

what's your budget on the card(s)? cause if you don't have one, why not get the 7800GTX? i'm pretty sure the x850PE is a good deal for $350 too

The best price/performance right now is the Sapphire x800 GTO2 once it is unlocked and overclocked. If you do not want to go that route, the 7800GT gives the next best price/performance.

I would prefer a single card solution over an SLI solution, if I were you.

I would say wait until more info is released about the OC ability of the X1800XL. Performance wise it's neck and neck with 7800 GT but we won't be sure until we see the final drivers and OC results . . .

As for the X1600XT, I would say it's a very strange card and really shouldn't be considered since it can sometimes beat a 6800 but yet sometimes lose to a 6600GT despite the fact it's a 12PP/8PP card at 590/1.38!!!!

If you must get something ASAP though, the 7800GT is probably your best bet and can be had for under $350 . . .
