I was thinking about making a choice between the GE Force 3 or a Radeon 8500 card as an upgrade for my GE Force mx 400. My present card is made by ASUS and I am pleased overall with the card, but I'm am very disappointed in the customer service. I know that ATI are the only people who make the Radeon. But, I see a ton of different maker's of the GE Force line. I don't buy too many things in-store anymore since I can find much better prices online. I could use some advice on some of the more respected manufacturers of the GE Force 3 card. I have seen a few in several different stores, but I have a very limited knowledge of who is good and who is generic.

Any help, would be......er.....uh.....helpful :)

Aloha.

I vote for Leadtek. They're the only nVidia card manufacturer whose 2D image quality was rated better than Matrox's.

As usual I have but one link to supply whenever I hear the extremely dubious statement that Leadtek is even remotely close to Matrox in 2D.... linky.

There are third party ATi Radeon boards available now.

As for what manufacturer of GF3... well that depends on how important 2D visual quality is to you, potential overclockability, warranty, tech support, extra features, price, etc etc.
Almost all manufacturers have some area in which they'd make an excellent choice depending upon your needs.

Personally, I'm fond of VisionTek, Elsa, and Gainward... with LeadTek a close second.
I very much dislike Asus, and MSI.

That said, even Asus and MSI certainly have their good points.
