I'm going to start building computers and reselling them. I would like anyone's opinion on which is the better buy: a 6800 GT or an X800 XT PE. Here's the specs:

EVGA Nvidia GeForce 6800 GT AGP - $309
16 Pipelines
350 MHz Core
256 MB, 256-bit Memory
1000 MHz Memory

HIS Hightech ATI Radeon X800 XT PE AGP - $429
16 Pipelins
520 MHz Core
256 MB, 256-bit Memory
1120 MHz Memory

6800GT is definately better for the money. It can be easily OC'd to outperform an X800XT.

Also, that price for the X800XT is outrageous. See if you can get something like this. The mem clock is a bit lower, but you save a good 100 dollars.

Actually, that price for an X800 XT PE isn't too far off. It's faster than an Ultra for a few bucks more (the Ultra costs around $400). In plus, it comes with the ATI Silencer already on it and Counter Strike 🙂

You could just get the 6800 NU for under $200 at NewEgg (eVGA brand) and hope you get extra pipes that work.

You could get a 6800GT and an NVSilencer for about 320 bucks, overclock it to an Ultra, and you'd have close to X800XTPE performance for 100 dollars less.

why are ultras so damn expensive now that teh 7800 came out? they should not be 400 bucks, its only a 50/100 clock boost from a gt!

If you are building computers and reselling them you want to keep costs as low as possible in order to make any money at all, so I think the GT is your best bet (of the 2 you listed) because overclocking should not be an option when you will be the one responsible for any problems that arise. But remember this is just my opinion 😉

You should use the 6800gt, just because more people think nvidia is the $hit (that would explain all those 256mb gf6200 sales), and will more likely buy your computer.
