I'm about to purchase a PCI Express video card and am not sure which is better (I think the prices are confusing me). From what I've read, I think the Leadtek is the better choice. Am I correct? I know there are even better cards out there but I wan't to stay in the $400-$600 range. By the way, this is in Canadian $.

1) LEADTEK PX6800GT TDH 256MB TV Out, DVI PCI Express Cash Price: $449.99
2) Sapphire® Radeon? X800Pro VPU w/256Mb GDDR3 & PCI Express x16 TVO OEM $544.99

Also, do both cards have video processing features (encoding/decoding)?

the 6800GT has shader model 9 and is cheaper. It has way better performance than the x800pro.

go with the 6800GT

i second going with the GT, if it was an X800XT i might lean toward that but since its about 100 bucks more, not retail, and a pro im going all for the GT. Also I love my Leadtek 6800GT AGP

they are both good @ certain tasks, but especially considering the 6800 is cheaper, I'd go that way no question. if they were equal in price it might be harder to decide, even though the 6800 still outperforms it a little, i think the x800 is a great card and i'd like to have one. I just don't think the value is there like with the nV.

It's Shader Model 3, and it doesn't mean much these days. The cards are actually close in performance, except in openGL games, where NV still has a lead.

With the price difference , the edge goes to the 6800GT.

I am not sure which versions of the 6800 card have the broken video processor. You may want to search around about that.
